Faux Jazz brings together five talented musicians who first made waves in the 1980s as part of Hartford Connecticut’s renowned jazz fusion band, Street Temperature. Widely celebrated as the premier rhythm section of their era, these artists honed their craft through electrifying performances and a shared passion for innovation in music. Over the decades, their friendship remained steadfast, and now, they’ve reunited to form Faux Jazz. With their deep-rooted chemistry, this group delivers a fresh yet nostalgic take on jazz fusion, blending timeless artistry with modern flair.

  • Bill Holloman

    Saxophone, Flute, Trumpet, Composer, Arranger

    Bill Holloman is a versatile and accomplished multi-instrumentalist specializing and mastering any wind instrument. Known for his dynamic performances and genre-blending style, he has recorded and performed with iconic artists including Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Nile Rodgers & Chic, and the late blues guitar legend Danny Gatton. A key member of the Hogshead Horns in the acclaimed Beatles tribute band The Fab Faux, founded by legendary bassist Will Lee, he also brings his talent to the Hartford-based band The Cartells and led his own improvisational group, the Bill Holloman Quartet. Renowned for his ability to craft rich, layered arrangements, he is in high demand as a one-man horn section for recording sessions, adding his signature sound to countless projects.

  • Paul DeMaio

    Guitarist, Composer

    Paul DeMaio is a Hartford based guitarist and composer. During the 1980s, he performed with the acclaimed band Street Temperature, helping to define the local jazz fusion scene. Following his tenure with the band, Paul founded Big Science, a cutting-edge jazz fusion project that released the album Address Unknown.

    Paul has been a fixture in the Hartford music community, freelancing with various ensembles and artists. Most recently, he has brought his distinct sound to the Larry Gareau Quartet, collaborating with the talented trumpeter and his ensemble. Known for his dynamic playing and innovative compositions, Paul works to inspire audiences and contribute to the vibrant jazz scene.

    Keyboardist, Composer, Arranger

    Ben Armentano is a talented keyboardist and composer. He gained recognition in the 1980s as a member of the acclaimed jazz fusion band Street Temperature, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances. After his time with the band, Ben moved to Los Angeles, where he established himself as a sought-after musical director, pianist and teacher.

    Ben has collaborated with countless artists including working alongside renowned musicians such as the late Chet McCracken, drummer for The Doobie Brothers (who he recorded five albums with), the legendary bassist Nathan East, and Tim Bogert, the bass player from Beck, Bogert and Appice. Ben also contributed his signature sound to the LA-based jazz fusion band Catatonic, who were in steady rotation at the famed Baked Potato.

    Known for his inspiring and richly textured compositions, Ben works to leave his mark on the music scene with his creativity and passion for the craft.

  • Craig Garfinkel

    Bassist

    Craig Garfinkel is a well-versed bassist whose deep groove and impeccable timing have made him a standout in the jazz, fusion and R&B music scenes. During the 1980s, Craig gained local acclaim as a member of the dynamic band Street Temperature, where his playing consistently locked in with the drummer, creating a rock-solid rhythm section.

    Following his tenure with Street Temperature, Craig performed with the Bill Holloman Quartet along with Street Temperature alum and Faux Jazz member, drummer Frank Giguere, further showcasing his versatile style. He later brought his signature sound to the jazz fusion band Mystery Feet, and recorded two albums, Walk the Walk and Upstream. Another high point was playing with the Matt Zeiner Band, and their live release Summer’s Night. Whether anchoring intricate fusion arrangements or supporting soulful, bluesy melodies, Craig’s playing continues to resonate with audiences and fellow musicians alike.

    Frank Giguere is a seasoned drummer whose infectious polyrhythms and soulful pocket have left an indelible mark on the jazz fusion and R&B music scenes. In the 1980s, Frank was a key member of the acclaimed jazz fusion band Street Temperature, where his dynamic playing inspired countless drummers and music enthusiasts alike.

    Beyond his work with Street Temperature, Frank became a sought-after drum instructor, sharing his craft and passion for rhythm with aspiring musicians. His career has spanned collaborations with notable ensembles such as the Bill Holloman Quartet, alongside Faux Jazz bassist Craig Garfinkel, as well as jazz fusion band Topaz.

    Frank's versatility has also been showcased in his performances with bands like Mosaic and, more recently, Little House. Whether on stage or in the drum studio, Frank continues to influence and inspire the next generation of drummers with his unmatched artistry and dedication to his craft.
